Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are the seven planets, with Rahu and Ketu as the two shadow planets. These are the nine planets, or Nava Graha, for ease of reference. To produce astrological forecasts, Vedic astrology takes into account seven planets (Graha) and two shadow planets (Chhaya Graha). Unlike modern astronomy, which considers the sun to be a star and the moon to be the only natural satellite of the earth, Vedic astrology considers the sun and moon to be planets with significant influence on our lives. All other planets, as well as the sun and moon, orbit the earth, having an impact on life on the planet. Vedic astrology views the solar system from a geocentric perspective, with the earth as the centre of all activity. It is necessary to understand the planets in Vedic astrology in order to better understand ourselves and our destiny. The location of the planets at the time of our birth determines our characteristics and attributes. These celestial objects influence everyone’s personality and destiny. All events in a person’s life are thought to be regulated by the planets in Vedic Astrology.
